Add a key or all keys lost?
- You still have a key that starts the car: usually an add-a-key job. Your other keys keep working.
- No key starts it: all keys lost. The programmer erases the keys the car knew and learns the new ones, so any old key that isn’t relearned stops working.
- Buttons dead but the car starts: try a fresh battery first. See key fob not working after a battery change and 2016 Ram key fob battery checks.
Tip from Bill: always keep two working keys. When you’re down to one, get a second made before that one is lost too.
